In this project, I learned fullbody proportions and how to measure them realistically. I'm usually used to cartoon proportions, which don't really have rules, so in this project, I really had to try my hardest. I think I grew a good amount in doing this, I drew this will vine charcoal, and the person I drew was Leila. The most challenging thing about this was fitting the head and the neck onto the body, now that I see the picture, I see that the proportion of the head and neck don't really work that well. Using the vine charcoal really helped me shade and draw things quicker. I didn't use anything else. I'm excited to continue working on projects like these.
The way I showed proportions in this skeleton drawing was through the lines that I drew beforehand, that showed the length of each limb and body part. This was quite difficult since the skeleton in the picture wasn't well proportioned. The only concern I have of this drawing is that his feet are a bit too small, but otherwise I am very happy.
For this project, we had to do scratch board art, and I chose an orca because I wanted to do the inside of the mouth.
This was very difficult for me, mostly because the sound and scratchiness of the board and tools made me cringe. I do really enjoy this work, though. The processes of these drawings were very difficult, especially the first one since it was done with my eyes closed. I had started with the face and moved out to the chin, the arms were last. In the second picture, I was looking at the paper, I accidentally made his right arm too big, but I'm proud of the drawing since it's accurate.
For this project, we had to do a self portrait, and either make it expressive, zombie, or mechanical. I decided to make mine mechanical and inverted colors. I used Prismacolor to do this.
The reason I wanted to do mechanical was because I always thought of smooth skin, not the kind of rusty, steampunk mechanical. And I had originally wanted to do an inverted colors picture, because I wanted to go for a more digital/mechanical robot. Kind of like an AI. I had a lot of trouble with this project, mostly because I had to draw myself, and I rarely do that. The hardest part was shading the skin because it was inverted, but I'm glad at how it turned out. I also really like the wires that I had pulling out of my face. For this project, we had to draw a picture of ourselves ontop of a skull picture in pencil. This was very difficult to do because I've never really tried realism before. Noses are the hardest to draw because everyone's is so different, and mine is particularly larger than normal.
I also tend to make eyes a bit too high up, or too big, like in this picture. I'm not a big fan of this project, mostly because it turned out so asymmetrical. But I hope to keep drawing In the future so that I get used to it. My transparency drawing, made with Prismacolor pencils. The inspiration was one of those Halloween plastic see through scary masks. It was quite the challenge to make it look transparent, but I enjoyed drawing this one.^.^
For this project I used chalk pastels of all colors, this is for a transparency project. I'm very proud of this one.
